The Renault brand closed 2024 on a high note, reporting its second consecutive year of growth with 1,577,351 vehicles sold worldwide, a 1.8% increase compared to 2023. The success reflects the strong impact of the Renaulution plan, a comprehensive strategy prioritizing electrification, innovation, and quality sales.
Renault’s global growth outpaced the market, which expanded by 1.4%, while in Europe, sales grew by an impressive 3.3%, double the market’s growth rate of 1.7%. The brand sold 1,009,000 vehicles in Europe, achieving a 6.7% market share.
Electrification Drives Momentum
Renault’s electrified vehicle sales surged by 20% in Europe in 2024, led by a robust offering of both hybrid and fully electric models. Highlights include:
- A 30% rise in full-hybrid vehicle sales, making Renault the second-largest player in the European hybrid market.
- A 9% increase in electric vehicle (EV) sales, bolstered by the success of the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, which launched in late 2024 and was named Car of the Year 2025.
The Renault 5 E-Tech Electric made a strong debut, with nearly 10,000 registrations in France by year-end, becoming the best-selling B-segment electric city car in November and December. Its market presence will expand further in 2025 with new battery options and availability across additional European countries.
New Models and Strong Global Performance
Renault launched eight new models and one restyled version in 2024, including the Scenic E-Tech Electric, Rafale, and Grand Koleos, driving sales momentum. Key markets contributed significantly:
- United Kingdom: Sales grew by 21.4% in a market that rose by 2.8%.
- Brazil: A 10% increase in sales, supported by the launch of Kardian.
- South Korea: Sales soared by 81%, highlighting the brand’s growing international footprint.
Renault also reaffirmed its dominance in Europe’s light commercial vehicle (LCV) market, with a 15.3% market share and 310,500 vehicles sold, a 4.6% rise compared to 2023.
Technological Innovation as a Competitive Edge
Renault’s technological advancements, including its openR link multimedia system and Solarbay panoramic roof, were pivotal to its 2024 success. Notable features such as the 4CONTROL four-wheel steering system have enhanced safety and driving agility, gaining strong customer approval.
A Well-Balanced Strategy for 2025
Renault CEO Fabrice Cambolive credited the Renaulution plan for the brand’s performance:
“Our product offensive, based on the best of electric and hybrid technology, is proving a success. We have achieved the right balance between retail and business customers and hybrid and electric vehicles while strengthening our international presence.”
In 2025, Renault aims to build on this momentum with the launch of the Renault 4 E-Tech Electric and the expansion of its international strategy. As the brand continues to innovate and address evolving customer needs, it is well-positioned to maintain its leadership in electrified mobility and global markets.
