The all-new 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid has been named the 2025 North American Car of the Year™ (NACOTY), marking a historic fourth win for the Civic nameplate. This prestigious accolade solidifies the Civic’s legacy as one of the most awarded vehicles in NACOTY’s 30-year history.

This latest honor also underscores Honda’s commitment to electrification, with the Civic Hybrid playing a pivotal role in the brand’s strategy to electrify its lineup.

“We are honored to have leading automotive journalists select the Honda Civic Hybrid as the North American Car of the Year™,” said Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda Auto Sales. “With the Civic Hybrid expected to account for 40% of Civic sales, it exemplifies the perfect blend of fun-to-drive performance and hybrid efficiency.”

A New Era for the Honda Civic
Offered as both a sedan and a hatchback, the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid combines the iconic Civic design with the advanced fourth-generation Honda two-motor hybrid-electric system. Key performance and design highlights include:

200 horsepower and 232 lb.-ft. of torque, making it the most powerful non-Type R Civic in history.
50-mpg city rating, delivering exceptional fuel efficiency without compromising performance.
Enhanced ride and handling dynamics, featuring unique spring and damper tuning alongside advanced noise reduction technology for a quiet and comfortable driving experience.
Honda’s Legacy of Excellence
This award marks the seventh NACOTY win for Honda, joining the ranks of past winners such as the Honda Ridgeline and Accord. The Civic itself has now won the accolade in 2006, 2016, 2022, and 2025, further cementing its reputation as a benchmark for compact cars.

Innovative Hybrid Technology
At the heart of the Civic Hybrid is Honda’s celebrated two-motor hybrid system, which was recently recognized as one of WardsAuto’s 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems for the second consecutive year. Built in Ohio, this system is paired with a newly developed 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle engine that offers improved efficiency and performance.

A Leader in American Manufacturing
Since its debut in 1973, the Civic has become a cornerstone of Honda’s production in North America, with over 15 million Civics sold in the region. The latest models are manufactured at Honda’s facilities in Alliston, Ontario, and Greensburg, Indiana, further showcasing Honda’s deep roots in North American manufacturing.

A Vehicle for the Next Generation
As America’s most popular vehicle among Gen Z, first-time car buyers, and multicultural customers, the Civic continues to resonate with a diverse and evolving audience. The 2025 Civic Hybrid not only builds on this legacy but also paves the way for a more sustainable and electrified future.

With its combination of performance, innovation, and efficiency, the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid stands as a testament to Honda’s enduring commitment to excellence and its vision for the future of mobility.
