Borzo (formerly WeFast), a global intracity delivery company, has unveiled its first fleet of electric 3-wheelers, marking a significant step toward sustainable logistics solutions. The initiative, which aligns with the company’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions, aims to transform delivery operations in urban areas by enhancing efficiency and eco-friendliness in the volumetric delivery segment.

The pilot phase of this rollout begins in Mumbai, with plans to expand operations to Delhi. The electric 3-wheelers are designed to handle lightweight deliveries of up to 500 kilograms, while future plans include introducing electric 4-wheelers, such as mini trucks and tempos, capable of carrying up to 750 kilograms. Borzo is targeting to electrify at least 30% of its 3-wheeler fleet as part of its sustainability roadmap, with a goal of achieving 1,000 daily deliveries using electric vehicles.

Gig delivery partners will play a key role in this initiative, managing their schedules and operations while using energy-efficient vehicles. Borzo also plans to collaborate with electric vehicle service providers to ensure seamless maintenance and reliable operations.

Commenting on the initiative, Alina Kisina, CEO of Borzo, stated, “Entering the 3-wheeler and truck market was a strategic move driven by the need for versatile and cost-effective delivery solutions. Adding electric 3-wheelers to our fleet reflects our commitment to sustainability and aligns with the growing demand for cleaner, quieter, and more efficient delivery methods. This rollout is just the beginning of our vision to expand with electric mini trucks and tempos.”

In addition to sustainability benefits, the adoption of electric vehicles is expected to reduce operational costs through lower fuel and maintenance expenses. Borzo’s broader plan includes aggressive promotional campaigns offering low prices for B2B clients and onboarding 1,500 delivery partners for the 3-wheeler, mini truck, and tempo segments.

With a robust fleet of over 60,000 delivery partners already serving hyperlocal and SME segments in India, Borzo aims to position itself as a leading player in sustainable urban logistics, catering to the rising demands of eco-friendly and efficient delivery solutions.
