Audi and its local partners FAW and SAIC have unveiled an impressive lineup of market-specific premieres at Auto Guangzhou 2024. The showcase underscores Audi’s commitment to delivering innovative, tailored vehicles for its largest global market, China, through its two-partner strategy.
Audi Q6L e-tron: A PPE Milestone for China
Making its debut at the FAW stand is the Audi Q6L e-tron, the first locally produced model based on Audi’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE). Designed exclusively for the Chinese market, the Q6L e-tron features an extended wheelbase, unique design elements, and an advanced digital interior developed specifically for Chinese customers.
Produced by the Audi FAW NEV Company at its state-of-the-art facility in Changchun, the Q6L e-tron will launch in late December. Audi CEO Gernot Döllner highlighted its significance, stating, “This vehicle is a cornerstone of our electrification strategy in China and demonstrates our dedication to shaping the future of mobility in our largest market.”
A5L: The Evolved Bestseller
FAW Audi also revealed the successor to the A4L, now rebranded as the Audi A5L in line with Audi’s new global naming convention. Built on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), this long-wheelbase model enhances interior space while retaining Audi’s dynamic design language.
The A5L boasts distinctive illuminated rings, custom front and rear designs, and market-specific options such as illuminated door mirrors and advanced display systems.
AUDI E Concept: SAIC Partnership Innovation
At the SAIC stand, the AUDI E concept made its first public appearance. This close-to-production Sportback previews a new lineup of intelligent and connected electric vehicles developed by Audi and SAIC.
The AUDI E concept combines two electric motors delivering 570 kW with quattro all-wheel drive for exhilarating performance. Measuring 4.87 meters in length and 1.99 meters in width, it merges Audi’s engineering prowess with SAIC’s digital expertise, aiming to capture the attention of China’s tech-savvy premium customers.
The vehicle marks a pivotal step in Audi and SAIC’s collaboration, with three production models set to follow starting in 2025. Brand ambassador and Olympic gold medalist Zheng Qinwen highlighted the model’s appeal, stating, “The AUDI E concept is a perfect fusion of performance and technology.”
Strengthening Audi’s Presence in China
China remains Audi’s largest single market and a global leader in electrification and digitalization. Audi China President Johannes Roscheck emphasized, “Our exceptional lineup at Auto Guangzhou 2024 reflects our commitment to meeting the demands of Chinese consumers with innovative, market-specific solutions.”
Audi’s dual-partner strategy with FAW and SAIC enables the brand to cater to diverse customer needs, further solidifying its leadership in the Chinese premium automotive market. With a major model initiative underway, Audi is poised to maintain its position as a trailblazer in “Vorsprung durch Technik.”
