Toyota Motor Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) have announced a joint initiative focused on mobility and AI/telecommunications, aiming to create a society free from traffic accidents.
Through their previous collaborations, both companies have aligned on shared values, such as contributing to society through technological and industrial advancements, prioritizing a people-centered approach, and fostering global contributions starting in Japan. This new initiative seeks to deepen their partnership with the goal of achieving a “society with zero traffic accidents” as a foundational step toward a safer, more prosperous mobility landscape.
To realize this vision, an infrastructure-cooperative approach is essential, continuously connecting people, vehicles, and infrastructure, along with advancing data-driven driving support technologies and developing future automated driving capabilities.
Toyota is prioritizing safety and security in its development of Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs). Alongside this evolution, creating a robust infrastructure—including high-speed communication, AI systems for intelligent data processing, and computing frameworks—will be crucial.
In this collaboration, NTT will leverage its telecommunications expertise to help Toyota build a “Mobility AI Platform.” This platform will integrate seamless communication infrastructure with AI and computing systems capable of processing large volumes of data. Together, they aim to connect people, mobility, and infrastructure, fostering a safe, secure, and sustainable mobility society free from traffic accidents.
