Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the future of mobility and collaboration in India’s evolving market. During his visit, which included attending the Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) Stock Exchange Listing Ceremony on October 22, 2024, Chung emphasized the Group’s commitment to working closely with India.

The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s office in Delhi and attended by HMIL COO Tarun Garg, focused on the growth of the Indian mobility industry and potential partnerships with Hyundai. Chung extended an invitation to Prime Minister Modi for the opening of HMIL’s new plant in Pune, Maharashtra, which promises to be a transformative investment supported by both the Indian and Maharashtra governments.

As part of the “Make in India” initiative, HMILwill play a crucial role in India’s vision for ‘Viksit Bharat 2047,’ aimed at the country’s development by its centenary of independence. Since entering the Indian market in 1996, Hyundai Motor Group has established itself as a leading mobility company, delivering innovative products and making significant contributions to society. Executive Chair Chung expressed his respect for India’s heritage and culture during the meeting. He said, “India’s rich history and culture continue to inspire people worldwide. As India and Korea deepen economic collaboration, we can learn much from each other’s cultures and strengthen the foundations of our cooperation.”
