Suzuki Motor Corporation and its subsidiary, Suzuki Business Co., Ltd., have reached an agreement to provide Hamamatsu Energy Co., Ltd. with the environmental value derived from electricity generated by their solar power plants in Hamamatsu City. The power is generated through a feed-in tariff (FIT) system at three different locations operated by Suzuki and Suzuki Business.

Hamamatsu Energy, a local energy provider with Hamamatsu City as its largest shareholder, promotes the local production and consumption of renewable energy. It supplies clean energy to various public facilities including elementary and junior high schools, as well as businesses and large offices within the city. This collaboration aligns with Hamamatsu City’s vision to boost local energy self-sufficiency and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Suzuki and Suzuki Business’s agreement to contribute their solar power output supports this vision, aiding in the city’s shift towards sustainable energy practices. This initiative follows Suzuki’s earlier launch of “Shizuoka Green Denki” in July 2023, which introduced CO2-free electricity sourced from renewable energy produced within Shizuoka Prefecture.

Suzuki’s ongoing efforts to promote renewable energy and collaborate with local communities reinforce its commitment to building a sustainable society. By supporting Hamamatsu City’s energy goals, Suzuki aims to play a crucial role in the region’s path toward a greener, more self-sufficient energy future.
