Gogoro Inc., a global pioneer in battery-swapping ecosystems for sustainable urban mobility, has been named one of MIT Technology Review’s ‘15 Climate Tech Companies to Watch’ for the second consecutive year. The announcement was made during the prestigious EmTech MIT Conference at the MIT Media Lab.

The annual list spotlights companies making significant strides in developing or scaling technologies to combat climate change. Gogoro was lauded for its successful deployment of electric scooters and battery-swapping technology across Taiwan and its expansion into new markets. MIT Technology Review highlighted the company’s battery-swapping stations, which not only support sustainable urban transportation but also bolster the Taiwan power grid by serving as backup energy sources.

“Gogoro stood out for its innovative deployment of electric scooters and battery swapping,” said Amy Nordrum, Executive Editor, Operations, MIT Technology Review. “Their battery swap stations contribute to the grid’s resilience, and that’s why they’ve earned their place on our list for the second year in a row.”

Since its inception, Gogoro has completed over 630 million battery swaps, preventing the release of more than one million tons of CO2. “We are honored to be included in MIT Technology Review’s list again,” said Henry Chiang, CEO of Gogoro. “Our mission to create smarter, more sustainable cities is critical in addressing today’s climate challenges.”

Gogoro continues to expand its operations globally, with active services in countries including Taiwan, the Philippines, India, and Indonesia, among others.
