MG Windsor EV Records 15,176 Bookings Within 24 Hours, Setting New Benchmark for Electric Vehicles in India

In a major milestone for India’s electric vehicle market, MG Windsor, the country’s first intelligent CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle), received an overwhelming response from customers, securing 15,176 bookings within 24 hours of launch. Bookings for the EV began on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 7:30 a.m., with demand surging immediately after the commencement.

This remarkable achievement positions MG Windsor as India’s first passenger electric vehicle to attain such a booking volume in a single day, underscoring the growing interest in electric mobility solutions across the nation.

Satinder Singh Bajwa, Chief Commercial Officer of JSW MG Motor India, expressed his gratitude to customers, stating, “We are grateful to our customers who have embraced the MG Windsor wholeheartedly and enabled it to reach the milestone of 15,176 bookings in just one day. This achievement solidifies the MG Windsor’s position as a progressive force in India’s electric vehicle market.”

He further highlighted that the popularity of the MG Windsor reflects the increasing demand for sustainable, cost-effective, and rider-friendly transportation among Indian consumers, emphasizing the company’s commitment to delivering innovative and eco-friendly mobility solutions.

The MG Windsor EV offers a unique blend of sedan-like comfort and SUV-like space, featuring an aerodynamic design, spacious interiors, and a host of advanced features, including smart connectivity and multiple safety measures. The vehicle is available under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program, starting at an attractive price of INR 9.99 lakh, with a running cost of INR 3.5 per kilometer. Customers also have the option for outright purchase, with prices starting at INR 13,49,800 (ex-showroom).

Equipped with a 38 kWh Li-ion battery pack, the Windsor EV delivers 100KW (136ps) of power and 200Nm of torque. It supports four driving modes (Eco+, Eco, Normal, and Sport) and offers an ARAI-certified range of 332 km on a single charge.

The vehicle is available in three variants—Excite, Exclusive, and Essence—and comes in four color options: Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige, and Turquoise Green.

Among the vehicle’s standout features are several industry-first initiatives aimed at enhancing the ownership experience. These include a lifetime battery warranty for the first owner, one year of free public charging through the eHUB by MG app, and an assured 60% buyback after 3 years or 45,000 kilometers. Additionally, MG offers its e-Shield program, which includes a 3-year unlimited kilometer warranty on the vehicle, 3 years of roadside assistance, and 3 labor-free services.

MG Windsor’s success marks a pivotal moment in India’s shift toward sustainable transportation and reinforces the brand’s leadership in the electric vehicle space.
