As the electric vehicle (EV) revolution gains momentum, Ford is tackling one of the key challenges for prospective EV buyers: the convenience and confidence of charging. Today, Ford unveiled the “Ford Power Promise,” a new initiative designed to make home charging hassle-free while enhancing support for EV owners on the road.

With nostalgia for the golden age of full-service filling stations, Ford’s senior hybrid systems engineer described how the new generation of electric vehicle owners is searching for a similar experience of convenience and peace of mind. This is especially critical as nearly 90% of U.S. shoppers say they would be more likely to buy an EV if they knew they could charge at home, according to a recent Ford survey conducted by Mercury Analytics.

Home Charging Made Easy

At the heart of Ford’s Power Promise is a commitment to simplifying home charging installation. Buyers of the Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, or E-Transit will now receive a complimentary home charger, which can be delivered and installed at no cost for standard setups. This offering eliminates the confusion and guesswork surrounding home charger installation and cost, a common pain point for many potential EV buyers.

“Filling up at home with electricity can result in significant savings for many owners compared to filling up with gas,” Ford explained. “But the problem is, nearly half of EV shoppers don’t know how home charging works.”

On-the-Road Confidence

Beyond home charging, Ford’s Power Promise ensures a seamless on-the-road charging experience. The BlueOval Charge Network integrates with Electrify America and Tesla Superchargers, allowing Ford EVs to automatically locate chargers and add stops along the driver’s route. Through Plug and Charge technology, payments are processed automatically through FordPass, adding to the convenience.

Battery and Support Reassurance

Ford also emphasized its commitment to battery quality, offering an eight-year/100,000-mile high-voltage battery warranty on all of its electric vehicles. Additionally, the Power Promise extends support through expanded 24/7 customer assistance and complimentary roadside help if a vehicle’s range runs too low.

While cheap lease deals and rebates on EVs have become more common, Ford believes true EV adoption will come from providing convenience, expert service, and peace of mind — much like the service station attendants of old who checked tire pressure and cleaned windshields. Ford’s Power Promise aims to offer a modern version of that experience.

As the EV market continues to evolve, Ford is positioning itself as a leader in making the transition to electric driving easier for the millions of Americans curious about EV ownership.
