Ford Motor Company has announced the launch of BlueCruise 1.4, the latest version of its advanced hands-free highway driving software. This update offers a more natural, smoother driving experience and longer engagement in hands-free mode, allowing drivers to remain in control even in challenging conditions like tight curves, narrow lanes, or inclement weather.
Sammy Omari, Executive Director of Advanced Driver Assist System Technologies (ADAS) at Ford, highlighted the key improvements of BlueCruise 1.4, which include automatic speed adjustments on curves, a new motion controller for enhanced in-lane stability, and extended hands-free operation in diverse driving environments.
“BlueCruise 1.4 lets customers stay in hands-free mode eight times longer than the original version, creating a more seamless and comfortable driving experience,” said Omari.
Building on previous versions, BlueCruise 1.4 includes features like Lane Change Assist, allowing hands-free lane changes, and In-Lane Repositioning, which provides extra space from adjacent vehicles. The software will be available on select 2025 Ford and Lincoln models, including the Ford F-150 and Lincoln Navigator, with future rollouts planned for additional vehicles via software updates.
Ford’s ADAS team is continuously improving BlueCruise using real-time data from over 492,000 BlueCruise-equipped vehicles, which have collectively logged more than 244 million hands-free miles. This iterative process allows Ford to enhance safety, comfort, and hands-free performance across a wide range of gas-powered, hybrid, and electric vehicles.
The update is part of Ford’s broader commitment to advancing hands-free driving technology across its lineup, making hands-free highway driving more accessible to a growing number of customers.
