In a significant move to enhance electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, Clever, Denmark’s largest EV charging operator, and APCOA, Europe’s leading parking operator, have announced a partnership aimed at converting a substantial number of Denmark’s parking spaces into EV charging hubs. The collaboration’s ambitious goal is to install over 5,000 public charging points by 2028.
The partnership comes as Danish parking companies are set to transform their services to include EV charging infrastructure, reflecting the growing demand for such facilities. The initial phase of the collaboration will see approximately 5,000 Clever charging stations installed at APCOA Denmark’s parking facilities nationwide, creating Denmark’s largest integrated network of charging and parking facilities.
Michael Christensen, Managing Director of APCOA Denmark, commented, “We are experiencing increasing demand for charging options across our more than 3,000 locations. As the need for EV charging while parked continues to rise, enhancing our parking facilities to support this trend is essential. We are excited to partner with Clever to drive the green transition and electrify thousands of our parking spaces, further expanding Denmark’s charging infrastructure.”
Under the terms of the partnership, APCOA Denmark will provide guidance on integrating charging stations with parking services, while Clever will manage the installation, maintenance, and daily operations of these stations.
Casper Kirketerp-Møller, CEO of Clever, stated, “Parking spaces play a crucial role in supporting sustainable mobility. Partnering with APCOA Denmark, which operates over 3,000 locations nationwide, aligns perfectly with our goals. Our objective is to deploy more than 5,000 public charging points at APCOA Denmark’s facilities by 2028, ensuring that EV drivers have access to charging options where they need them most. This collaboration supports both Danish electric vehicle owners and the broader green transition in transportation.”
Currently, APCOA Denmark operates 120 charging points, which will soon be accessible to Clever’s subscription customers, starting this autumn. Additionally, the upcoming APCOA FLOW app will enable ad hoc payments for charging at all of Clever’s 8,500 public charging stations, integrating parking and charging services into a single application. Pricing for these services will be set by APCOA based on prevailing market rates.
