Neuron Energy, a leading EV battery manufacturer, has announced a strategic partnership with Pointo, a pioneer in the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. This collaboration aims to lease high-capacity lithium-ion batteries to commercial e-rickshaws in India, marking a major step toward advancing sustainable electric mobility in the country.
Beginning in August 2024 and continuing throughout the next year, Neuron Energy will supply up to 12,000 5.1KW lithium-ion batteries for L3 category e-rickshaws, supporting the industry’s transition from lead-acid to lithium-ion technology. This partnership is expected to significantly promote the growth of eco-friendly transportation, particularly in key regions such as Kolkata, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh.
Neuron Energy is well-regarded for its wide range of electric mobility solutions, including lead-acid, lithium-ion, and sodium-ion batteries. Through this initiative, Pointo will lease Neuron’s advanced battery packs as part of its EV service model, providing e-rickshaw drivers with cost-effective, high-performance battery alternatives. The move is expected to enhance electric mobility infrastructure and accelerate the adoption of next-generation batteries in India’s rapidly growing EV sector.
