In a strategic move aimed at transforming the trucking industry, Volvo Group Venture Capital AB has announced its investment in U.S.-based aifleet, a company utilizing proprietary AI technology to address inefficiencies in full-truckload (FTL) logistics. The investment aligns with Volvo’s focus on fostering innovation and sustainability in the transportation sector.

aifleet, founded in 2020, has developed a technology platform that significantly boosts truck utilization while improving driver satisfaction. The company’s operations currently generate over 40% higher driver utilization compared to industry averages by optimizing route planning and automating scheduling. The FTL segment, a $400 billion market, is highly fragmented and suffers from low driver productivity and empty miles in the supply chain. aifleet’s AI-driven approach offers solutions to these challenges, with the potential to reshape the industry.

Marc El Khoury, co-founder and CEO of aifleet, emphasized the company’s commitment to revolutionizing trucking operations. “We are excited about Volvo’s investment and look forward to leveraging our technology to create a more sustainable fleet and industry,” he said.

Joe Darcy, Investor at Volvo Group Venture Capital, highlighted aifleet’s unique approach to addressing inefficiencies. “They are not only increasing truck utilization but also optimizing the working environment for drivers, proving the capabilities of their technology through their own fleet operations,” Darcy stated.

Stephen Roy, Chairman of Volvo Group North America, echoed the enthusiasm for the partnership, saying, “The Volvo Group is committed to driving innovation and more sustainable transportation solutions, and aifleet shares our ambition.”

Volvo Group Venture Capital, established in 1997, focuses on investments in startups working in logistics services, electrification, site solutions, and sustainability. The investment in aifleet reflects Volvo’s strategy of fostering collaborations that support the future of transportation.

This transaction will have no significant impact on Volvo Group’s financial position.
