Stellantis Invests Over $406 Million in Michigan Plants, Announces First U.S. Electric Vehicle Production

Stellantis announced a major investment exceeding $406 million in three Michigan facilities to advance its multi-energy strategy. The Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) will become the company’s first U.S. plant to manufacture a fully electric vehicle.

The plant will produce the Ram 1500 REV, Stellantis’ inaugural battery-electric light-duty pickup truck set to debut in late 2024, along with the all-new 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger featuring a range-extending powertrain. Both models will be produced alongside traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) versions. Additional investments will be directed toward retooling the Warren Truck Assembly Plant for a future electrified Jeep® Wagoneer and upgrading the Dundee Engine Plant for battery tray production and beam machining for STLA Frame and STLA Large batteries.
