In August 2024, India experienced a significant rise in electric two-wheeler sales, marking a notable shift in the automotive industry. Ola Electric, a subsidiary of Ola Cabs, emerged as the market leader with a 27.3% share, selling 12,642 units. TVS Motor also made a strong showing, capturing a 20.57% market share with 9,525 units sold, reflecting its commitment to electric mobility. Bajaj Auto followed with a 10.61% share, selling 4,911 units, according to Vahan Portal. These top companies collectively represented a large portion of the 27,078 electric two-wheelers sold in August 2024, highlighting the rapid adoption of electric vehicles in India. In total, around 46,304 electric two-wheelers were sold throughout the month.

The surge in electric two-wheeler sales is driven by increasing awareness of environmental sustainability. Many consumers are choosing electric vehicles as a cleaner alternative to traditional gasoline-powered ones. Additionally, the lower operating costs of electric vehicles, amid rising fuel prices, make them an appealing choice for daily commutes.

Other manufacturers, including Hero Motorcorp, Ather Energy, Greaves Electric Mobility, BGauss Auto, and Wardwizard Innovations & Mobility, have also contributed to the market’s expansion. For instance, Revolt Intellicorp sold 735 units, showcasing its role in broadening the availability of electric mobility options.

Companies like KLB Komaki, OKAYA EV, Kinetic Green Energy & Power Solutions, and Quantum Energy are also making significant strides in the electric two-wheeler sector. Their dedication to innovation and sustainability helps build a strong foundation for a greener automotive future in India.
