Volvo Trucks continues to lead the way in electromobility with the launch of its latest service, Charging Management, designed to enhance the efficiency of electric truck charging at home depots. This innovative service allows transport companies to effectively manage the private charging of their electric fleets, boosting productivity and reducing the likelihood of unplanned charging sessions.
Charging Management provides a platform for haulers to create tailored charging plans, ensuring vehicles are charged and ready for their next operation. The service offers a comprehensive visual overview of the charging process, displaying battery levels and charging statuses. In the event of deviations from the plan, users are promptly notified, helping to avoid disruptions caused by low battery levels. Detailed charging session reports are also available, allowing for thorough follow-up on both vehicles and chargers.
“Charging is a key area when operating an electric truck,” says Johan Östberg, Electromobility Service Owner at Volvo Trucks. “This service helps haulers ensure their trucks are charged and ready, and allows them to monitor the charging process for any deviations.”
The new service complements Volvo Trucks’ Volvo Open Charge, launched last year, which simplifies public charging by helping haulers find, book, and charge at partnered stations. Currently available in Sweden and the Netherlands, Volvo Open Charge will soon expand to other countries.
Both Charging Management and Volvo Open Charge are part of Volvo Connect, Volvo Trucks’ digital interface for customer services.
