A first-of-its-kind electric vehicle battery-testing facility is set to be established in the city at a cost of INR 12 crore. Union Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi laid the foundation stone for the facility on Thursday. It will be located on a one-acre site at the National Test House (NTH) on the Regional Reference Standard Laboratory campus in Jakkur. This initiative represents a significant advancement in promoting India’s EV ecosystem and ensuring the safety and reliability of electric vehicles.
This state-of-the-art facility will provide crucial battery testing services for EV manufacturers in South India, focusing on battery efficiency, safety standards, and performance metrics. “The electric vehicle sector is booming in Bengaluru, driving rapid urban development. This facility will offer testing and certification services that ensure top quality and safety, providing substantial support to the industry. We need more initiatives to accelerate the EV business,” said Joshi.
At the event, Joshi also highlighted the connection between EVs and renewable energy sources in achieving a sustainable future. He encouraged all stakeholders to collaborate on the shared goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
