India’s booming e-mobility and gig economy sectors take a significant step forward as BLive, the country’s fastest-growing e-mobility platform, announces a strategic partnership with Awign, India’s largest work-as-a-service platform. The collaboration aims to onboard 10,000 riders for BLive’s EV Rental Programme over the next 12 months, marking a substantial shift towards sustainable last-mile delivery solutions.
Awign, recognized for its innovative work fulfillment solutions across multiple industries, is set to streamline the process of recruiting and managing gig workers for BLive’s ambitious project. With a community of over 1.5 million gig workers and partnerships across sectors such as Automotive, Retail, FMCG, and Pharmaceuticals, Awign’s involvement is poised to enhance the reach and impact of BLive’s initiative.
The partnership introduces gig workers to affordable and sustainable electric vehicles (EVs) through BLive’s EZY EV Rental Programme, which offers flexible rental terms and low weekly rates starting at Rs 1,500. Notably, the “Rent to Own” model allows riders to own their EVs after 36 months, promoting both economic independence and environmental sustainability.
Samarth Kholkar, CEO and Co-Founder of BLive, highlighted the significance of the collaboration, stating, “This partnership with Awign marks a major milestone for BLive. Our EZY EV Rental Programme has been key in reducing financial barriers for delivery workers, and this collaboration will further accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in India.”
Industry insights reveal a growing preference among last-mile delivery riders for EVs, with 77 percent citing environmental benefits, although financial challenges remain a significant barrier. BLive’s initiative directly addresses these concerns by offering competitive rates and partnering with top-tier brands like TVS, Ather, Bounce, and Revolt, ensuring riders access high-quality electric vehicles with reduced fuel costs, insurance, and maintenance included.
Awign’s Co-Founder and CBO, Gurpreet Singh, echoed Kholkar’s sentiments, emphasizing the partnership’s focus on sustainability and operational excellence. “From deploying charger installation infrastructure across India to now onboarding 10,000 riders for BLive’s EZY EV Rental Programme, we are committed to advancing sustainable mobility and empowering gig workers.”
This collaboration is expected to not only boost the adoption of electric vehicles among gig workers but also set new standards for sustainability in the gig economy. With the Indian EV market projected to reach 1.6 million electric two-wheelers by 2025, this initiative leverages current trends to make the transition to electric vehicles more accessible and advantageous for gig workers across the country.
