The new Passat from Volkswagen has earned the top rating of five stars from the Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme), making it one of the best-rated mid-sized models of 2024. This achievement marks the third time the Passat has received Euro NCAP’s highest award, following similar successes in 2010 and 2014. The Passat, now in its ninth generation, continues Volkswagen’s tradition of excellence in safety and innovation.
The new Passat has been recognized as one of the best mid-sized models of 2024, achieving a top five-star rating from the Euro NCAP. It achieved its best result in the Adult Occupant Protection category with a 93% rating, and also scored highly in Child Occupant Protection (87%), Vulnerable Road Users (83%), and Safety Assist (80%). The vehicle comes equipped with many standard assist systems, such as Side Assist, Lane Assist, ACC stop & go, and Autonomous Emergency Braking Front Assist with Pedestrian and Cyclist Monitoring, enhancing the overall safety for both occupants and other road users.
In addition to its safety features, the Passat offers advanced technologies like Car2X, which enables communication with other vehicles and traffic infrastructure to share information about local hazards.
With over 34 million units sold in its more than 50-year history, the Passat remains a best-seller, particularly popular as an estate model in Europe. In 2023, the Passat Variant led the mid-sized class in Germany with 45,494 new registrations.
