The anticipation for the 35th BMW International Open has reached new heights with the official announcement that golf luminaries Luke Donald and Patrick Reed will be participating in this prestigious event. Scheduled to take place from July 3rd to 7th at Golfclub München Eichenried, the tournament promises an exciting showcase of talent and competition.

Luke Donald, the 46-year-old Englishman renowned for his stellar career, is a beloved figure in the world of golf. Known for his sustained cries of “Luuuuke” from adoring fans, Donald has secured four PGA TOUR wins and seven European Tour (now DP World Tour) titles, including back-to-back victories at the BMW PGA Championship in 2011 and 2012. His reign at the top of the world rankings, spanning over a year with brief interruptions, is a testament to his exceptional skill. Currently focusing on his role as Ryder Cup captain, Donald is excited to compete in the BMW International Open once again. “It is an iconic tournament on the DP World Tour calendar, and like the BMW PGA Championship, it has a great atmosphere and represents everything BMW has contributed to the development of golf over the past decades,” Donald remarked.

Patrick Reed, the 33-year-old American and nine-time PGA TOUR winner, will make his debut at the BMW International Open. Reed’s most notable achievement came with his victory at the 2018 Masters, where he triumphed with a score of 268 (-15). However, his legendary singles match against Rory McIlroy at the 2016 Ryder Cup remains one of the most memorable duels in golf history. Reed’s anticipation for the event is palpable. “The BMW Championship in the USA and the BMW PGA Championship are fantastic events; BMW just does it really well. I am sure it will be no different in Munich, and I look forward to the golf fans in Germany,” he said.

This year’s tournament will also highlight emerging talent, with 20-year-old German amateurs Tiger Christensen from Hamburg and Yannik Malik from Munich securing the two starting spots.
