Excitement is mounting as 22 national teams, comprising six women’s and 16 men’s teams with a total of 60 riders, prepare to compete for the coveted trophy at the BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy 2024 Namibia. This thrilling event will take place from September 15 to 20, 2024, across the rugged terrain of Namibia in East Africa. The teams will be riding the specially developed BMW R 1300 GS Trophy Competition Bike, a model tailored for this demanding competition.

The R 1300 GS Trophy Competition Bike, based on the R 1300 GS, has been meticulously equipped to handle all challenges with its powerful boxer engine and a host of special accessories. This includes a handlebar riser, engine protection bar, underride and frame guard, adjustable gear and brake levers, GS Vario rider footrests, enduro hand levers, headlight protection guard, and white handguard extensions. The bike’s off-road capabilities are enhanced by coarse-tread tyres on black cross-spoke wheels and a single seat bench, all designed to tackle Namibia’s difficult terrain.

Although not available for sale in its exact competition form, the R 1300 GS Trophy Competition Bike shares its core with the R 1300 GS Trophy model, with a few unique modifications like stickers, a large underride guard, and a gearshift lever. The Racing Blue metallic colour scheme, accented with red and white stripes and lettering, along with a matt white metallic painted rear frame, gives the bike a sporty and aggressive look, perfectly suited for off-road riding.

In keeping with its high off-road expertise, the bike features radiator guards to protect against stone chipping and robust cross-spoke wheels, available in black as standard and gold as an ex-works option.

Supporting the competition, the GS Trophy Marshals will be riding the BMW F 900 GS Trophy Marshal Bike. This mid-range touring enduro bike, based on the F 900 GS, offers 77 kW (105 hp) of power and enhanced off-road capabilities, with a 14 kg weight reduction from its predecessor. This makes it an ideal companion for navigating Namibia’s challenging landscapes.
