Chalo, which operates the luxury AC BEST Chalo Bus service under a license from BEST, has seen a 50% increase in ridership over the past three months, reaching an average of 10,000 daily commuters on weekdays.
To meet this growing demand, Chalo is expanding its fleet by 44%, adding new electric luxury AC buses and increasing the total network to 144 buses. This investment will enhance the frequency of trips on popular routes such as Belapur-Colaba (via MTHL-Atal Setu), Thane-Andheri, Thane-BKC, and Navi Mumbai-BKC, with increases ranging from 15% to 40%.
The Belapur-Colaba route, connecting Navi Mumbai to Colaba through the new MTHL-Atal Setu and Eastern Freeway, has gained significant popularity. To accommodate this demand, Chalo is boosting the number of trips on this route by 50%. Moreover, Chalo is considering new all-day and weekend routes to serve a wider audience across Mumbai.
Chalo’s monthly travel plans have also become popular among commuters, offering convenience and flexibility with options ranging from 10 to 45 trips. The 45-trip plan is the most favored, followed by the 25-trip plan. Responding to public demand, Chalo has launched route-specific passes that have been warmly received by customers.
Mohit Dubey, CEO of Chalo, said, “With the introduction of new travel plans and fleet expansion, Chalo will also add new all-day and weekend routes, offering a seamless and affordable public transport experience across Mumbai.”
