Hubject, the global leader in EV interoperability, has announced a strategic partnership with Exicom, India’s largest EV charger manufacturer. This collaboration aims to transform the charging experience for electric vehicle (EV) drivers in India, leveraging Hubject’s innovative interoperability technology to create a seamless and efficient charging infrastructure.
The partnership will focus on integrating Hubject’s Plug&Charge platform, establishing a regional Indian hub to:
- Introduce industry-leading global technology.
- Support local charge point operators (CPOs) based on ISO15118 standards.
- Enable fully automated charging capabilities.
- Develop the first Plug&Charge standard in India, positioning the country as a regional leader in this technology.
Enhanced Charging Experience
The implementation of Hubject’s intercharge platform will allow EV drivers in India to easily locate and access charging points, facilitating instant charging with automatic EV-to-charging station authentication. This technology eliminates the need for apps or RFID cards, making the charging process more user-friendly and efficient.
Christian Hahn, CEO of Hubject, highlighted the importance of this partnership, stating, “The EV market in India is seeing explosive growth. Last year sales nearly doubled, and this year they are expected to rise by 66%. This strategic partnership with Exicom and the introduction of Hubject’s intercharge platform aims to support this massive growth by making the charging experience easier and more reliable for EV drivers. This is an important step in encouraging more drivers in India to make the switch from cars using fossil fuel to EVs.”
Anant Nahata, CEO of Exicom, elaborated on the scope of the collaboration: “Addressing the challenges of reliability and seamless EV charging experience in the Indian market is crucial. Our partnership with Hubject aims to provide a frictionless charging experience for EV users. The establishment of a central interoperability hub will further streamline payment settlements and reduce dependence on multiple wallets, ensuring a smoother experience for EV users nationwide.”
Global Impact, Local Implementation
Hubject’s interoperability technology simplifies the EV charging process by allowing drivers to locate, access, and pay for charging services through a unified interface, regardless of the operator. This system eliminates the need for multiple memberships and payments, enabling drivers to effortlessly roam between different CPOs, much like mobile phone users roam between networks.
With over 725,000 charging points and more than 2,250 B2B partners across 63 countries, Hubject has established the world’s largest eMobility charging network. This partnership with Exicom represents a significant step towards Hubject’s goal of one million networked charge points by 2024, furthering their mission to provide end-to-end eMobility solutions and promote a greener future.
