The government announced on Thursday that it has provided financial support to Pune-based company Krishigati for their EV technology named ‘Electric Bull’ designed for intercultural farming operations.

The Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science and Technology (DST) granted this assistance to the firm on May 27 in the national capital.

“We are committed to boosting indigenous capabilities and backing innovative projects that drive technological progress and economic growth in India’s agricultural sector,” said Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary, TDB.

Intercultural farming operations encompass a range of lighter, more precise tasks conducted on the soil between sowing and harvesting, including weeding, fertiliser application, and mulching.

The project, named “Axle-Less Multipurpose Electric Vehicle for Modern and Precision Farming,” aims to indigenize EV technology for intercultural farming operations, TDB stated.

This product aids the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare’s objectives by indirectly boosting income and production for marginal farmers.

The Electric Bull boasts several unique and innovative features, such as an electric prime mover that runs without pollution or vibrations, a ground clearance of 610 mm, the ability to perform four different farming operations with a single unit, and a portable battery that can be charged anywhere with a single-phase electric power supply, among other attributes.
