Hyundai Motor Company has announced the appointment of Eduardo Ramírez as the new Chief Designer of Hyundai Design Europe. Ramírez will lead the Hyundai Design Europe Center, reinforcing the brand’s design competitiveness within the fast-evolving global automotive industry. His focus will be on providing “customer-centric design innovation” and creating a unique customer experience to distinguish Hyundai from its competitors.
Eduardo Ramírez, a graduate of Coventry University and the Royal College of Art, began his career as an exterior designer at Audi and later at General Motors. Since joining the Hyundai Design Europe Center in 2007, he has spearheaded key design projects for the European market, including the i10, KONA, Bayon, and Santa Fe models.
“I believe in the power of design to signal ways forward, and I am committed to inspiring and empowering our designers to think boldly and deliver solutions that will spark the emotions of our customers in the future,” said Ramírez in a statement.
SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai Genesis Global Design, expressed his confidence in Ramírez’s appointment. “I look forward to witnessing a stronger and fresher Hyundai Design Europe under Eduardo. He is the perfect fit for the position as he understands Hyundai’s design direction, which prioritizes customer values. He is the one to realize designs that can satisfy different types of customers’ lifestyles while valuing Hyundai’s heritage,” Lee remarked.
This announcement comes amidst a series of accolades for Hyundai’s design excellence. Recently, Hyundai’s SANTA FE won the 2024 Red Dot Award in the Product Design: Cars and Motorcycles category. Additionally, Hyundai Motor has received numerous iF Design Awards and GOOD DESIGN Awards, showcasing its leadership in design innovation across multiple categories.
