Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) and Laxmi Group Begin Assembly of Hyundai VENUE at Nepal

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) and Laxmi Group announced they are starting to put together Hyundai VENUE cars in Nepal. They opened Nepal’s first car assembly plant on May 10, 2024. Shri. Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the Prime Minister of Nepal, and Mr. Tae-Young Park, the Ambassador of South Korea to Nepal, were there for the opening.

The opening of this plant was made possible thanks to the strong support of Laxmi Group, local partners, and the crucial assistance from Hyundai Motor Company (HMC), Korea, as well as Hyundai Motor India Limited, who shared their advanced technology and skills. As a result, Laxmi Group will manufacture and sell Hyundai cars in Nepal, ensuring customers receive ongoing satisfaction and a positive experience. Collaboration and support from HMC Korea and Hyundai Motor India will continue on products, technology, and quality projects. This first-of-its-kind vehicle assembly plant in Nepal by Hyundai Motor and Laxmi Group will promote localization and create job opportunities.

Mr. Unsoo Kim, MD & CEO – Hyundai Motor India Limited said, “This plant in Nepal has an installed capacity of assembling 5 000 units annually, and Hyundai VENUE will be the first locally assembled model to roll off the plant. I would like to convey my sincere congratulations to the people of Nepal for this achievement!”

Mr. Kim added, “We are immensely grateful to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Pushpa Kamal Dahal and the Government of Nepal for their unwavering support. We look forward to more encouraging policies and incentives from the Nepal Government aimed at developing a conducive environment for local assembly.”
