bp Unveils First U.S. bp pulse EV Charging Gigahub at Houston Headquarters

bp is set to mark a significant milestone in the realm of electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure with the grand opening of its new electric-vehicle charging site at the bp America headquarters in Houston, Texas. This expansion of bp’s network of EV chargers in the United States heralds a new era in sustainable transportation. The state-of-the-art facility, branded as a bp pulse Gigahub, will be accessible to the public starting April 2, 2024.

Emma Delaney, bp’s Executive Vice President for Customers & Products, expressed her excitement about the debut of the first bp pulse EV charging Gigahub in the U.S., emphasizing bp’s commitment to global expansion and its dedication to meeting evolving customer needs.

The Gigahub, slated to open on March 20, 2024, will feature 24 high-speed EV charge points equipped with Tritium 150kW DC fast chargers. Integrated with the bp pulse app, users will have access to real-time charging availability information and WiFi connectivity, enhancing the charging experience.

Sujay Sharma, CEO of bp pulse Americas, highlighted the significance of the project in bolstering bp’s presence in the U.S. public EV-charging market and supporting the rapid adoption of electric vehicles. He underscored the company’s commitment to providing fast, reliable charging infrastructure to meet the growing demand for EVs across the nation.

bp pulse aims to continue deploying additional charging points at strategic locations, including airports, major metropolitan areas, and bp-owned properties nationwide. The company has secured grant funds from programs like the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) and the California Energy Commission (CEC) to expand charging infrastructure in key states.

In line with its ambitious goals, bp announced plans to invest $1 billion in America’s EV charging infrastructure by 2030, with $500 million earmarked for investment by the end of 2025. bp pulse is committed to delivering 3,000 charge points by 2025, aligning with bp’s strategic transition growth engines, which include EV charging, bioenergy, hydrogen, convenience, and renewables & power.

With 29,000 EV charge points worldwide and plans to exceed 100,000 globally by 2030, bp is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of sustainable mobility, with a focus on rapid and ultra-fast charging solutions.

The opening of the bp pulse Gigahub™ in Houston marks a significant step forward in bp’s commitment to advancing clean energy solutions and supporting the transition to electric transportation on a global scale.
