Tata Power, one of India’s leading integrated power companies and electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions providers, has taken a significant step towards sustainable mobility by converting over 1000 of its EV charging points in Mumbai to operate on green energy. Mumbai, with over 10,000 EVs and a growing number of four-wheelers on its roads, is swiftly embracing e-mobility. In response to this trend, Tata Power is leading the way in developing an extensive EV charging infrastructure across the city.
Currently, Mumbai boasts more than 1000 green charging points, including 44 public points, 385 in residential areas, 58 at commercial sites like malls, hotels, and workplaces, and 531 dedicated to fleet charging. These strategically located charging points ensure convenient access for EV owners. Additionally, Tata Power has extended its network along major highways, facilitating seamless intercity travel for electric vehicle users. The company provides EV charging services to various players and has installations at prominent residential societies across the city.
To encourage intercity travel, Tata Power has installed fast charging points on popular routes such as the Mumbai-Pune and Mumbai-Goa highways. With a commitment to enhancing nationwide EV charging accessibility, Tata Power’s network spans over 475 cities and towns, offering tailored charging solutions for home users, public and semi-public spaces, and bus fleets. The company boasts over 73,000 home chargers, 5,300+ public, semi-public, and fleet charging points, and 690+ bus charging stations.
Tata Power’s ambitious plan includes expanding its green energy footprint to an additional 4000 charging points across Maharashtra in a phased manner. This expansion aims not only to increase the accessibility of EV charging solutions but also to ensure that these facilities are powered by 100% renewable energy sources. Aligned with its ‘Sustainable Is Attainable’ movement, Tata Power is positioning itself as a pioneer in the transition towards a greener future.
