Orion Energy Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: OESX), known for its energy-efficient LED lighting solutions, has announced a significant milestone for its electric vehicle (EV) charging subsidiary, Voltrek. The company has successfully secured a substantial project from a long-standing municipal customer, marking a significant step in its EV charging business endeavors.
The project entails the installation of 43 electric vehicle chargers at various municipal locations. This initiative aims to cater to the increasing demand for EV charging infrastructure driven by the customer’s expanding EV fleet.
Valued at over $1 million, the comprehensive project will feature a blend of Level 2 Chargepoint Fleet CPF50 and Level 3 Chargepoint CPE250 EV chargers. Funding for the endeavor will be facilitated through the Eversource Make Ready Program, a financial assistance initiative offering rebates to organizations embracing electric vehicles.
Kathleen Connors, President of Voltrek, expressed her excitement about the collaboration, highlighting the company’s commitment to providing a top-tier EV charging installation experience. “We are excited to provide our long-time customer with a world-class turnkey EV charging installation experience as they make their transition to an EV fleet. They came to us needing assistance with site planning and design, load management requirements, equipment selection, and installation – all of which we are experienced in delivering,” she remarked.
The strategically positioned EV chargers will be situated within garages, garage bays, and parking lots, ensuring convenient access for various types of electric vehicles. The project is slated for completion within Orion’s fourth quarter of fiscal 2024, demonstrating the company’s dedication to advancing sustainable transportation infrastructure.
