Toyota Kirloskar Motor Unveils Organizational Restructuring

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has revealed a series of organizational changes, signaling a strategic shift in leadership to fortify a customer-centric approach and flexibility in India. These changes, effective from January 1st, 2024, aim to bolster the company’s operations, facilitating a seamless transition toward an agile and future-oriented organization, further establishing India’s pivotal role within Toyota’s global business landscape.

Aligned with Toyota Motor Corporation’s recent formation of the “India, Middle East, East Asia & Oceania” Region and the appointment of Mr. Masakazu Yoshimura, MD and CEO of TKM, as the Regional CEO, these organizational adjustments are geared to enhance efficiency and emphasize India’s significance in Toyota’s operations.

The notable changes within TKM’s Leadership Team include:

  • Mr. Tadashi Asazuma, presently Executive Vice President, steps into the role of Deputy Managing Director – Sales-Service-Used Car TKM & Lexus. In this capacity, Mr. Asazuma will oversee Sales, Service & Used Car functions for Toyota & Lexus, fostering growth, reinforcing robust dealer and customer relationships, and prioritizing customer-centricity. With extensive experience in the global automobile industry, including tenure at Toyota Motor Corporation and TKM since 2019, Mr. Asazuma brings a wealth of expertise from his roles in Japan and the Middle East.
  • Mr. Swapnesh R Maru, currently Executive Vice President & Chief Compliance Officer, takes on the role of Deputy Managing Director – Corporate Planning, Finance & Administration, and Manufacturing. In this expanded role, he will lead the manufacturing function, alongside overseeing Finance & Administration and Corporate Planning. His objective is to leverage the region’s growth potential and elevate TKM’s global significance. With over 25 years of diverse experience, Mr. Maru has handled critical functions across Sales, Accounting, Finance & Taxation, Legal, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Corporate Planning within India and at global/regional offices.

Mr. Masakazu Yoshimura, MD and CEO of Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Regional CEO at Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), expressed confidence in these changes, emphasizing their alignment with the company’s growth trajectory. He highlighted the evolving importance of the Indian market in Toyota’s global strategy and affirmed that these strategic adjustments aim to foster sustainable growth, enhance capabilities, and steer the company towards a future-ready state.

Yoshimura expressed optimism in the collective strength of the team, asserting readiness to leverage India’s burgeoning potential by aligning Toyota’s vision to deliver ‘Mass Happiness to All’ and achieve ‘Carbon Neutrality’ goals in the country.
