In a significant move accelerating India’s electric vehicle (EV) revolution, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TPEM) has inked a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with prominent charge point operators (CPOs) Chargezone, Glida, Statiq, and Zeon. This collaborative effort aims to elevate India’s charging infrastructure to new heights.

The MoU capitalizes on TPEM’s pioneering role in India’s EV landscape, leveraging insights gleaned from over 1.15 lakh Tata EVs traversing Indian roads. This partnership aims to bolster the existing presence of each operator in the charging ecosystem, strategically placing chargers at locations frequented by EV owners, while garnering insights to enhance customer experience.

The combined network of nearly 2,000 charging points across major cities by Chargezone, Glida, Statiq, and Zeon serves as the backbone of India’s burgeoning sustainable mobility transition. This collaboration plans to roll out over 10,000 additional charging points within the coming 12-15 months, significantly boosting the nation’s EV charging infrastructure.

Moreover, TPEM plans to explore the implementation of a streamlined payment gateway through co-branded RFID cards, simplifying payments for Tata EV users. Additionally, customers can anticipate benefits from loyalty programs and access dedicated customer care services through this collaborative initiative.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Balaje Rajan, Chief Strategy Officer of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., emphasized the pivotal role of convenient charging infrastructure in accelerating EV adoption, stating that open collaboration is crucial for India’s EV journey.

The collaboration, inspired by successful global case studies highlighting the correlation between accessible charging infrastructure and increased EV adoption, is anticipated to expedite India’s charging infrastructure development, fostering widespread EV adoption.

TPEM has maintained a close partnership with Tata Power, resulting in over 4,900 public chargers across the country. Additionally, collaborations with BPCL aim to establish 7,000 chargers in the upcoming year.
