Luxury automaker Audi from Germany is preparing to launch its electric SUV, the Q8 e-tron, in India in the coming month, aiming to strengthen its range of electric vehicles available in the country.
The Q8 e-tron will be available in two body types, the Q8 e-tron SUV and the Q8 e-tron Sportback, both featuring a 114kW battery with greater range compared to the existing e-tron model.
Audi India Head Balbir Singh Dhillon stated that the company aims to strengthen its EV portfolio in India by offering the latest global offerings to customers.
The Q8 e-tron will be imported as a fully built unit and positioned as a top-end variant in the Audi India EV lineup. Audi’s focus on petrol and electric vehicles aligns with its global strategy of becoming an all-electric car company by 2033.
Dhillon expressed optimism about the growing acceptance of electric cars in India, noting positive customer feedback and the increasing popularity of EVs in non-metro cities. Audi India’s retail sales surged by 97% in the first half of 2023 compared to the same period last year.
