According to Tata Motors’ Annual Report for 2022-23, the company anticipates that electric vehicles (EVs) will represent 50% of its passenger vehicle sales by 2030. With a goal to achieve net zero emissions by 2040, Tata Motors states that it is leading this initiative through its Gen 3 EV architecture strategy.

The report mentions that the contribution of EVs in Tata Motors’ portfolio is expected to reach 25% within the next five years and subsequently grow to 50% by 2030. Currently, the company offers EV models such as the Nexon EV range, Tiago EV, Tigor EV, and XPRES-T EV.

During the financial year 2022-23, Tata Motors achieved sales of 50,043 electric vehicles (EVs), with the total number of passenger vehicle sales reaching 540,965 units. The launch of the Tiago EV during this period has reportedly accelerated EV adoption, receiving a positive response with approximately 10,000 bookings on the first day.

Tata Motors also highlights the introduction of products based on the Gen 2 and Gen 3 architecture, including the Harrier EV, Sierra EV, and Avinya. These offerings aim to make EVs more desirable and aspirational for consumers.

Furthermore, Tata Motors revealed its intentions in the previous year to launch 10 new battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in its domestic product range by the year 2025. The company intends to introduce various body styles based on the AVINYA Concept, built on its GEN 3 architecture, starting in 2025.
