Brazilian ride-hailing app 99 is to more than increase the number of electric cars carrying passengers in Brazil over the next year, with a goal of 1,000 vehicles, the business announced on Monday.

The goal was revealed as the Alliance for Sustainable Mobility, a consortium of 11 firms created and led by 99, celebrated its one-year anniversary at the end of April.

The project also includes lenders Banco BV, Chinese manufacturers BYD and Caoa Chery, automobile rental business Movida, and energy group Raizen.

According to Thiago Hipolito, the company’s director for innovation, 99, Uber’s main rival (UBER.N) in Brazil and managed by China’s DiDi (92Sy.MU), completed the first year of the cooperation with 485 electric vehicles functioning on its platform.

99 aims to have 10,000 electric cars on its platform by 2025 and 100% of the fleet by 2030 over the medium to long term. The application right now has 750,000 month to month dynamic drivers.

For the time being, electric automobiles powered by 99’s application are only available in Brazil’s financial metropolis, So Paulo.

According to 99, the enterprises invested 35 million reais ($7.06 million) in “sustainable mobility” activities during the project’s first year. The corporation stated that no payments are expected for the second year.
