Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd, an Indian CPSU, has announced that it is in the process of developing Electric Vehicle Fast Charging Corridors that would be installed across the nation. It announced the installation of EV chargers on the Delhi-Jalandhar highway. This is the country’s fourth Electric Vehicle Fast Charging Corridor. BPCL has developed the first three EV Rapid Charging Corridors, Chennai-Trichy-Madurai, Chennai-Bangalore, and Bangalore-Coorg.

The CCS-2 fast chargers, which start at 30 Kilowatt, have been placed at 12 BPCL fuel stations along the 750-kilometre Delhi-Jalandhar National Highway. BPCL intends to convert 7,000 traditional retail stores into energy stations. They will offer a variety of fuelling alternatives.

The 12 newly built retail outlets are part of its goal of providing a solution to EV owners’ range concern.

The EV fast chargers placed at BPCL gasoline stations will allow electric vehicle owners to recharge their vehicles in 30 minutes and have a driving range of up to 125 kilometres. Following that, EV owners will seek for another EV charging station. Fast chargers will be self-contained.

The CPSU has made it easier to locate an EV charging station by digitising it through the HelloBPCL app.

BPCL has set a target of installing EV charging stations at roughly 7000 energy stations over the next five years. It has devised a strategy to make this achievable. BPCL aims to become a Net Zero Energy Business in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2040.

The company has installed 19 EV fast-charging facilities at 110 petrol stations. They have been installed along 15 motorways in Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.
