On Thursday, the website of Tesla Inc. revealed that the company had reduced the prices of its electric vehicles in the United States. This was in response to the fact that the economy was deteriorating, so the company was continuing its discount campaign.
The reductions ranged from 1.9% for the performance Model 3 to 5.6% for the basic Model S. Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the reductions.
The move comes in response to Elon Musk’s repeated statements over the past few months that Tesla would focus on lowering prices to increase demand and that global discounts introduced in January had succeeded in doing so.
Tesla has reduced costs on the two forms of its Model S. The cost of the essential adaptation was sliced by 5.6% to $84,990, while the cost of the presentation Plaid variation was sliced by 4.5% to $104,990.
According to the website, there was a $1,000 reduction in the prices of both the basic and performance Model 3 models. The basic Model 3 was reduced in price by 2.3% to $41,990, while the performance model was reduced by 1.9% to $52,990.
