Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation Receives Prototype Electric Bus Under FAME-II Scheme

Saturday saw the arrival of a prototype electric bus from Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation. It was part of the FAME-II program. 

Officials said that the KSRTC will operate 50 inter-city electric buses equipped with air conditioning in the coming days. They also added that the remainder of the buses should arrive in Bengaluru by February.

Olectra Greentech Limited will provide the buses. KSRTC chose the name of its Electric Bus as EV- Power Plus with the tagline e-Xperience e-levated. All remaining electric buses will be operated on the following routes: Bengaluru to Mysuru; Madikeri, Virajpet, Davangere, Shivamogga, and Chikkamagaluru. 

Bengaluru and Mysuru have established electric charging stations for buses. However, work is underway in Madikeri, Chikkamagaluru, Virajpet, Shivamogga, and Davanagere to set up charging points. KSRTC stated that each bus will offer 43 seats to passengers.
