BNY Mellon, a global financial services company, plans to make its fleet of corporate vehicles electric in India by the year 2025.
The company owns a fleet of 700 diesel-powered MPVs, Multi-Purpose vehicles.
BNY Mellon unveiled 20 electric vehicles at its Pune company premises on a pilot basis in the first phase. According to a release, they are expected to make 30,000 trips annually and will save more than 99,000 kilograms of CO2 each year.
These MPV-style cars can travel 500 km on one charge. They will be used primarily as part of the company’s employee transport programme in Pune and Chennai.
BNY Mellon stated that the goal is to eventually replace large parts of India’s current diesel-powered fleet.
“We continue to look for sustainable solutions throughout the value chain. We want to electrify all of our corporate fleets by 2025,” stated Nitin Chandel (Managing Director, Head, BNY Mellon Technology India).
