Olectra Greentech secures an order for 2,100 electric buses (E-buses) worth Rs 3,675 crore from Bhrihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST).
An arm of Olectra, EVEY receives a letter of award (LOA) from BEST as it was the least quoted bidder. These electric buses include mini-AC buses, double-decker buses, single-decker buses, and midi AC buses.
EVEY will deliver these 2,100 electric buses within 12 months either by itself or through Olectra Greentech. The company will also undertake maintenance of electric buses during the agreement period.
“Running the largest Electric Bus fleet in India’s financial capital is a matter of pride,” said Olectra Greentech’s Chairman and Managing Director KV Pradeep.
BEST aims to have its entire fleet electric by March 2027 and 50% of its fleet electric by March 2023. Olectra is currently operating 40 e-buses for BEST in the city of Mumbai.
