Next week, 100 electric buses will be flagged off by the Delhi government. They will be joining the state’s public transport fleet. As per Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of the city, an additional 300 electric buses will be added to the 100 e-buses in Delhi.
Two bus depots in Delhi are currently equipped to handle electric buses. They are Rohini Sector 37 and Mundela Kalan.
The first electric bus station in Delhi was at Mundela Kalan. It is equipped with 32 DC fast chargers, 4 service pits and 2 dry pits and it covers an area of 4.57 acres.
According to the government’s proposal, the Rohini Sector 37 electric bus depot has commissioned 25 DC fast chargers and will have a total of 48 electric buses.
This is the start of environment-friendly public transport infrastructure in Delhi, according to the Chief Minister. He also stated that the state will purchase 2,000 more e-buses over the next few years.
The Delhi government will flag off new electric buses with pink seats for women and kneeling ramps to accommodate differently-abled passengers. There will also be 10 panic buttons and CCTV cameras.
