The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) to deploy 1500 electric buses according to Kailash Gahlot, Transport Minister of Delhi. This will make Delhi the first state to have electric buses on a large scale.
Kailash Gahlot said, “Under Hon’ble CM Arvind Kejriwal’s vision, we’re committed to achieving 100% electrification of buses. DTC will soon be deploying 1500 e-buses as part of TheGrandChallenge. Convergence CESL has announced RFP. Delhi will be the 1st state to adopt e-buses at such scale.”
“The website is developed as a distinctive modern website to provide all the required information to the potential EV consumer and make it interactive to suit the needs and aspirations of the consumer by being responsive for mobile devices and intuitive to easily find information to visitors,” the Delhi government said.
“As the charging stations are growing each day in Delhi, the website will provide real-time updated numbers to the users,” it said.
TCIL, a Mini Ratna Category-1 Status Company under the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, with support of SDMC launched the first e-vehicle charging station in the South Delhi area at South Extn. Part I on 20.01.2022.
The launch was inaugurated by Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture in the presence of Shri Sanjeev Kumar, CMD, TCIL & other dignitaries of the area.
This e-vehicle charging station is the first one in a series of 65 e-charging stations to be set up by TCIL in a progressive manner in the next four months in South Delhi area within easy reach of citizens of Delhi. Each charging station can charge 6 Two/Three/ Four-wheeled vehicles at a time.
The charging stations are equipped with CCTV surveillance & a Wi-fi facility for use by the common public. It is also powered by a 6 kW solar panel. The e-vehicle charging station will help in popularizing the use of e-vehicle and in reducing pollution in the metro city of Delhi.
Recently, South Delhi Municipal Corporation identified 226 locations to install charging points by the end of 2022. This way, at least 1 electric vehicle charging station would be available in the 2x2km range.
