
Omega Seiki Mobility (OSM) will invest $200-300 million in the electrical mild business firm and will roll out electric trucks said the chairman of the company Uday Narang. The company has been working on research and development for the past 4 years on e-vans in Korea.
OSM is led by Anglian Omega Group which is a 40-year-old Delhi-based company that caters to logistics, drones, automobile financing, infrastructure, and automotive company. It has units in Chennai and Pune and Faridabad facility focuses on the EV only.
“OSM is making an attempt to convey ‘Electric Kranti’ to India and as a part of this, it has determined to step into the manufacturing of electrical business automobiles. We have been doing R&D for the last four years to build electric trucks in South Korea. We have been testing and developing these trucks with the former employees of Daewoo Motors,” Narang said.
Manufacturing of electric LCV vans has started in South Korea for both right and left-hand markets and initially will be launched in India with 1.5 ton, 3.5 tonnes, and 6.5 tonnes capacity. Left-hand vans for the Middle East and Latin America whereas Right-hand vans for Asian markets. The company plans to shift completely to e-trucks manufacturing.
“The company is investing USD 200-300-million in the business of e-trucks, which will initially be assembled at the group’s Chakan facility in Pune. We plan to manufacture these e-trucks either in Karnataka or in Andhra Pradesh, where the group already has 106 acres of land with it,” Narang said.
“We are getting curiosity not solely from logistics gamers within the e-commerce phase but in addition in non-e-commerce. We have gotten enormous demand from logistics gamers within the FMGC, auto house, amongst others additionally. Around 1000 vans will be delivered to the country in the cities including, Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore. The company is closely working with Magenta, and Sun mobilities for charging infrastructure systems. By the end of this month, the first charging station will be set up in Faridabad.
