A meeting is being scheduled for 4th December in Goa to encourage the use of electric vehicles in India and attract investments. State and central government representatives and carmakers will be present at this meeting.
Organized by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, state transport ministers, industry leaders from the automobile sector, leading officials of concerned departments, and Mahendra Nath Pandey, Union Heavy Industries Minister will also participate in the meeting.
A government official said, “Ministers of transport and chief secretaries/ senior officers from states, industry leaders from the automotive sector, start-ups, and technical experts have been invited to participate.”
Various stakeholders will work together to promote the use of electric vehicles in the country, attract investment for manufacturing electric vehicles, high-technology components, and batteries in the country.
As of now, the government is working on 3 major schemes with the investment of Rs 54038 crores for the adoption of electric vehicles.
These schemes include the National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC), Productivity Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for Automobile and Auto Components, and Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of EV in India II (FAME India II).
Under the ACC scheme, an investment of Rs 45000 crores will be provided for manufacturing units.
Under the FAME India II scheme, 55000 electric cars, 1 million electric two-wheelers, 5 lakhs electric three-wheelers, and 7090 electric buses will be subsidized.
“It will reduce the import bills of ACC by ₹1,50,000 crore. Request for proposal (RFP) has been issued on October 22, 2021, for inviting proposals from domestic and international manufacturers for setting up manufacturing facilities for ACC Battery Storage in India,” the official said.
