Tamil Nadu Industrial Corporation (TIDCO) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dassault Systèmes to lay down the Tamil Nadu Center of Advance Manufacturing (TANCAM), at Chennai’s TIDEL Park.
TANCAM, India’s first Center of Excellence (CoE), will provide a solely devoted IT engineering ecosystem to facilitate the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector and students across Tamil Nadu, as well as empower the industrial growth of sectors such as aerospace, defence, automotive, and electric vehicles.
The CoE would feature facilities for an engineering digital platform to enable product design, composites, simulation, and digital production, as part of the MoU signed in the presence of MK Stalin, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and Deepak NG, Managing Director, India, Dassault Systèmes.
Tamil Nadu is at the head of the Indian defence corridor and the Indian ecosystem for electric car manufacture. Deepak said we are certain that by using 3D design and engineering technology, the alliance will raise the whole ecosystem in the state and have a long-term influence on these businesses.
With focused domain-training programs in aerospace, military, automotive, electric vehicles, and allied industries, TANCAM will assist student mentorship and development.
The TANCAM Startup Cell, in collaboration with Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE Lab, will help to foster an entrepreneurial culture for next-generation technologies and innovative business models.
Stalin expressed that “The partnership with Dassault Systèmes to establish TANCAM will further equip our state with the newest technologies such as the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to support our commitment to upskilling and future-ready innovation via contemporary design and engineering solutions,”
Pankaj Kumar Bansal, IAS Chairman and Managing Director of TIDCO, stated in a statement, that such programmes are critical to nurturing and empowering the next generation of innovators, spanning MSMEs, startups, and several key industries.
TANCAM is an extension of our continuing efforts to foster innovative activities and development in the country, which have resulted in the establishment of comparable Centers of Excellence in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, Deepak added.
