The Rajasthan Government recently announced a policy to subsidise the sale of electric vehicles (EV). This move adds the state to the list of other states which have an EV policy, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Delhi.
The policy states that the state component of the goods and services tax (SGST) would be refunded to buyers of all EVs in Rajasthan between April 2021 and March 2022.
Additional cash subsidies between Rs 5,000 and Rs 20,000 depending on the size of the battery equipped would also be given to buyers of electric two- and three-wheelers. These incentives will be on top of the subsidy extended by the centre under the phase-2 of the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric and hybrid vehicles (FAME-2) scheme.
Presently, the Rajasthan government will not extend any cash subsidies for electric cars or buses. Also, as compared to the other states, the quantum of the subsidy for two- and three-wheelers is lower.
