PGE power company to install up to 300 EV charge points

PGE Nowa Energia, belonging to the PGE Group of power companies, in cooperation with the Volkswagen Group dealership network, plans to set up even 300 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations within two years.

“The PGE Group is the first operator in Poland whose electric car charging stations are 100-percent powered by renewable energy,” Pawel Sliwa, PGE Vice President of Innovation, said . A developed network of charging stations in cooperation with Volkswagen Group Polska and the Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and Seat Dealers Association is our next step towards reducing emissions,” he added.

PGE Nowa Energia is engaged in building and managing a network of EV charging stations. It currently operates 66 charging points throughout Poland, used by some 1,500 users monthly. According to development plans, in 2020 the number of charging points is to be tripled.

The Volkswagen Group will invest EUR 60 billion in the development of hybrid cars, electromobility and digitalisation in the years 2020-2024, of which ca. EUR 33 billion in electromobility alone. By 2029, the concern plans to launch up to 75 models with purely electric drive and around 60 hybrid models. By 2025, the Volkswagen group will launch 36,000 charging points in Europe.
